digital voice adapter or not

At some point I will me moved to digital voice, currently my router is upstairs and does not have a phone socket and my landline is downstairs where I want to keep it.

When I am sent the latest router I assume all I need do is plug my phone into that and I will be up and running albeit upstairs.

If i want to retain my current phone downstairs (none digital, cordless with a base station), then is this what the adapter is for ? Do I sync the adapter with the new router then just plug the adapter wherever I want in the house and then plug the phone into the adapter ?

However I might order the new digital voice ready phones, in this senario is the adapter not needed for me to have the new digital phone downstairs ? does the digital phone itself just sync to the new router and I can plug my digital phone in downstairs where my current phone socket is ?

The adaptors need to have phones plugged into them via a phone wire (the type that used to go into the phone socket in the wall). It doesn't work in my situation as my extension phones plug into the electrical socket only. My phones therefore don't work on DV.

you can plug the adapter into a power socket in your home and then pair it with SH2 ( connects using dect not wifi) and then plug your existing cordless base unit into the the adapter
