    <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I just want to check if this situation is normal:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;My mother has been BT for 2 years and I have just renewed her contract, as part of that renewal BT moved her from copper to DV. A new handset turned up and because she is elderly and mobile phobic we also had the battery backup. However, since last week her copper line has been disconnected and the new DV will not be activated until 19 August. When queried about this, I was told that they switched off the old line because the number was owned by Virgin Media and was in quarantine until 19 August. So between BT and Virgin Media, they have left a 90 year old without phone services bearing in mind that she hasn't had an account with Virgin Media, nee NTL nee Diamond Cable in over 30 years and has had her home number for 35 years.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Is it normal to switch off the copper before the DV is technically ready?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks in advance?&lt;/P&gt;</description>
