That’s a Ring Trip Fault.

Been a long time since I did Faulting on the Metallic Path Network but if I remember rightly they were usually caused by a Rectifed Loop Fault on the line.

If you’ve tried a working phone into the test socket and it’s still faulty it’ll need Reporting.

Hi. I'm visiting my mum. As far as I can make out from the user manuals, she has the Advanced Phone Z. There are four handsets throughout the house. They all worked well until about two days ago when they stopped ringing on incoming calls.

Following a YouTube tutorial, I reset all of the handsets, taking the batteries out and putting them back in.

After I did this they rang once and then stopped again.

The call is still coming through and you can answer it. As the caller (using my mobile) I continue to hear the call ringing, but the ring is not coming through the handsets.

All of the handsets are fully charged, there's no issue with electricity supply and, as mentioned, they've all been working fine up until this point. I'm out of ideas.

Over 50 years since I did faulting on the metallic path, but ring trip was often due to low A to B with the ringing current breaking down the low resistance to a full short.
