But 2 phones handsets connected to 2 different adapters can both pick up the call simultaneously.

There is no connectivity between handsets connected via the ATA built into the hub and handsets connected via DECT built into the hub but there is between handsets connected via the same means.

Until a couple of weeks ago I had a BT analogue phone system that worked, I have been 'forced' to change to digital system upon a new contract . In the 'analogue mode each phone acted as an exertion to the others. In the 'digital' mode I have three landline phones fitted [one directly to the hub, the other two with digital voice adaptor and micro filters. BUT no phone acts as a extension to the others Each phone has a dial tone and will ring out. Has the 'extension' been lost and in fact all I have now is three phones that take and make calls BUT no longer act as an integrated system?

So, if the handsets/digital voice adapters are independent albeit they are on the same ring main they is it possible to answer the call on one handset and continue the 'answer' on another handset as per it was possible with the analogue phone system

No, that is not possible.

You can continue the call with handsets connected via the same means but not via different means.

Ring main has nothing to do with it. The DV adapter uses the mains purely for power, not communication.

NO! it does not work like that. Each adapter is paired with the Smart Hub 2 and then communicates by DECT technology built into the the Hub and the adapter, so each phone is independent of the other.

if you want you analog system to work like before then you need to do a bit of simple rewiring as explained in the FAQ link I posted - without using the DV adapters
