This problem has finally been resolved. What happened was I decided to try to re register using the MyO2 app installed on my phone. Instead of telling me that I was already registered (which used to happen !) it allowed me to input the usual details such as mobile no, email address and create a new password etc and bingo I was able to access my online account. It would appear also that the MyO2 app had also been changed/updated. So I think maybe that the problem had been with O2 all along and it was suddenly corrected. A result... which happened at 8:10 pm on 18 Dec 2023

McAfee reports potentially unsafe URL in email from o2mail.co.uk

I am trying to retrieve a forgotten password from my O2 account .

I get an email from noreply@O2mail.co.uk which contains a message from McAfee saying potentially unsafe URls detected. It should contain a link to allow me to reset my O2 password.

I get this email from O2 on my android using the MyO2 app or on the web from my PC running Chrome or Edge on Win 11. I do not have McAfee on any of my devices.

My question is does this problem come from my O2 end or is the problem with my BT mail server.?

You must have or had McAfee on your devices and it is giving you the message.

If you are sure it is not a scam and you did initiate the email by trying to reset your password it will most likely be safe for you to ignore the message and over ride it but I do emphasise that you must be 100% sure that the email is genuine.

The other option would be to call O2 and ask them to reset your password.

Its definitely not a scam as the email is generated from the My O2 app on my phone and the O2 shop confirm its genuine. My phone does not run McAfee.

I have given up with phoning O2...their customer service is useless. I am unable to override the message as it does not contain the link I need to be able to carry out the reset.
