IP refresh

Hi,

I am considering switching to BT domestic broadband and I have a question regarding IP’s. My current provider, Virgin Media, refreshes my IP every 12 to 18 months. My work server is locked down, and access to SSH/FTP is limited to my own IP. My questions are

1. Is there an option to get a static IP for domestic broadband

2. If not, how often do IP’s refresh.

1 you cannot get static IP with residential BT broadband

2 you IP address will normally change when your broadband connection drops and router then reconnects to the internet

To be sure it changes you may need to leave the hub turned off for several minutes.
