Suspected spam call

Received a call on my mobile yesterday from 0800 328 9393. Came up on screen as BT Guide calling. SMART warning showed (I didn't know what that meant at the time!). Caller said they were from Openreach. In hindsight suspect this was a scam. Unable to trace number. Can anyone help please?

Have you been having any problems with your phone or broadband and reported them and as a result were you expecting a call from Openreach?

If not then it is a scam. Openreach will not call you out of the blue.

Am in email touch with Openreach and BT re installation of full fibre broadband and leaving BT for another provider. Was not expecting phone contact. BT logo that appeared when I pressed info button after call was unfamiliar (purple circular background with white circle around BT in the middle). Also caller, a Pakistani, asked for my email address and said he would email me (he didn't) and call me back today, also negative. Plus, can't find the number under BT or Openreach listing's. ......

08000232023 is apparently a genuine Openreach number.

However, scammers usually spoof numbers so there's no guarantee that a genuine number means a genuine call.

If it is Openreach calling you they must have a reason and will most likely call you back.

In future I would not call the number back and I would not give out any personal information including email address unless I am 100% happy that the call is genuine.

Not same number!! I did not call the number back.... Just concerned why and what they can do with info they have bla bla bla!! Thanks anyway.

My mistake with the number I posted, it is a typo. I was checking a couple of numbers and typed the wrong one however the link I posted is the same number as the one you were referring to.
