I'll probably have a switch for the cable into the upstairs. It was more a question whether the discs are able to broadcast WiFi from the ethernet cable. I know some of the discs and some can't.

I'm looking for some info on a new setup in a new build house. I have the option to have some ethernet ports to be setup around the house, but wanted to know if they're worth getting for the black discs. I have a homehub 2and the disc that comes with it. Can the disc be used while connected to ethernet? I was thinking of having a single ethernet port installed upstairs and having the disc provide WiFi up there from that. Is that possible?

Thanks!

Yes, but use an inexpensive gigabit switch between the hub and the rest of your ethernet.
