Can I replace the BT Smart Hub ('Home Hub 6') with any wireless router?

I am hoping to replace the BT Smart Hub ('Home Hub 6') with a drop-in replacement.

I want to take the BT router completely out of the equation.

What should I be looking for when shopping? Just that the router includes a modem?

Assuming you have VDSL, a wireless router would be no good, you need a combined modem/router like this.
