would anyone know why a brand new JVC tv only watched a couple of times won’t connect to a new BT Smart Hub 2? we had it before we changed our router and it was connected fine and working with the old router, hasn’t worked since router got

changed to new BT Smart Hub 2 and we’ve had that almost a year. rang Curry’s (where I bought TV) a while ago and they couldn’t help, wouldn’t help me because i hadn’t paid “guarantee protection” or something that’s nothing to do with wifi connection and also asked a friend who worked in Curry’s but she was unsure. I’ve tried pushing WPS on both routers (main and extender), connecting to other networks, resetting, everything, no luck. The TVs been watched about five times prior to this so it’s nothing to do with overuse or age.

Make sure you are using the Smarthub 2 SSid (name) and the wireless password, not the admin password that can be found on the label on the Smarthub 2.

You may have to factory reset the TV to clear out the settings from your old connection.

That sounds like a very well known problem that's been asked on this forum countless times.

Try telling the TV to forget any and all Wi-Fi connections then
Open the hub manager from a browser (192.168.1.254
Temporarily disable the 5GHz network from Advanced Settings
Set the WI-Fi up again
Restore the 5GHz network

End

Yeah I wouldn’t be using the admin password as I’ve been using that you get access to the Hub Manager to try solve this problem with still no avail. Thanks for your help

Post a bit more detail about your network setup, e.g.

I’ve tried pushing WPS on both routers (main and extender), connecting to other networks, resetting, everything, no luck. The TVs been watched about five times prior to this so it’s nothing to do with overuse or age.

Possibilities include IP address clash and running more than one DHCP server on the same network.

Assuming that the SH2 is the first router (the one with the WAN connection), try turning the other router off (move the TV closer to the hub if you have to).

If that works then turn the other back on and see what happens

EDIT: Can you see the present IP address in network settings and if so is it in the 169 range?

Please see my comment re the difference between the TV settings in this video and mine, I do not have same menu in System as described in video, I don’t have System > advanced settings > Factory reset > Factory reset everything as explained here. Only Reset Menu option which then displays an internet connection required message. Thanks

I suspect that you're looking in the wrong area for the reset option.

How To Reset JVC TV With and Without Remote [2022]
You don’t always need to get professional help for fixing minor TV issues, and knowing how to restore your JVC TV to its default settings can actually save you a lot of time and money. Here’s how you can restore your JVC television to factory settings.

Factory Reset JVC TV With Remote
First of all, turn on your JVC TV using the remote.
Now press the “Menu” button on the remote. A list of options will appear on your TV screen.
Select the “Setting/Gear Icon” option from the menu and press “OK” on the remote.
Note: You can also press the “Home” button on your remote and select the “Settings” option that is typically present in the lower-left corner of the home screen of your JVC TV.

Scroll down and select the “Storage & Reset” option in the settings, and press “OK.”
In the sub-menu, you will find two options;
Reset [will clear the storage] Factory data reset. [will wipe all data and bring it to original factory settings]
Select the “Factory data reset” option and press “OK” to confirm.
Once you confirm the factory reset, the reset will initiate, and it’ll remove all data from your JVC TV.
After a reboot, your TV will be reset, it’ll be restored to its default settings, and you will need to set it up just like your brand new TV.

How To Reset JVC TV With and Without Remote [2022] (thetechmamba.com)

Smart TVs are usually work best if directly connected to the BT Home Hub using an Ethernet cable, or Powerline adapters. Wireless connections are not normally reliable enough, especially if you are using a wireless extender.
