I have just set up my hybrid and the signal looks promising. The circle is blue and 2 bars at the bottom are also blue.

(Note my hybrid is NOT connected to my router via the ethernet cable. Instead my hybrid is in another room).

I want to test if it's working as intended.

If I switch OFF my router, will I automatically be switched over to the hybrid and therefore NOT lose my internet connection?

Or must the router always be switched on?

@dugs

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

The Hybrid Connect has to link to the BT Smart Hub 2, which needs to be on.

Hybrid connect is only a modem, so it needs to connect to the router.

The hybrid isn't a router, it is effectively a 4G modem which connects to your hub WAN port internally, ergo your hub needs to be switched on for it to work. To test, simply disconnect your hub from line. You will find it will switch over fairly quickly but takes about 20 minutes to switch back once service has been restored to your hub.
