BT Smart Hub 2 - Other IP Address Range

I have recently upgraded to FTTP.

I have a 3rd party router (planned to remove), my home network is on 10.153.28.1/24

When I have tried to change the Smart Hub 2 IPV4 to this IP address and DHCP Range I get an error

"These IP settings are not valid on the hub"

Did you also change the gateway address?

The range is reserved on the Smart Hub 2, for the BT WIFI public hotspot.
