For about two years I had an issue where the Internet speed into my house would drop by 30Mpbs everynight at about the same time - 1am. Set up automated speedtests to provide the time. Recovered the speed by a reboot - but why should I do that every morning?

Had many visits from BT who said it was OK now and would be a fault in the cabinet for OR to sort out if it returned - which it would that night.

Had many visits from OR who appeared to perform a reset on the line to fix it until that evening.

On day a OR guy called to say he was on the way and I had left the speed with the 30Mpbs drop. I asked him to come straight here without touching anything.

He did and confirmed the line speed to the house was 60Mpbs - but coulsd see the Internet was being capped by BT at 30Mpbs.

After a lengthly delay getting to speak to somebody at BT to tell them what he was seeing he got through to someone. That was the last day I ever had the issue.

I doubt if the problem I had is the same - but it does show that BT do trigger things at around 1am nightly that can effect your services - even if they deny it.

Hi all,

I’ve had this issue for the past week. Router will reset itself every night at the same exact hours. I would assume it’s uploading updates or diags itself - is there any way to change the timing of it to a different time, preferably closer to 5-6am?

Kind regards
