Moving from BT Broadband to EE due to router reason

Hi,
I've got BT Full Fibre 900 broadband which came with SH2.
Of course that router lacks of enhanced Wifi connection speed and I won't make use of the full speed using Wifi 5 network.
Do you reckon if by moving to EE I can get away of the contract cancellation fee from BT due to this reason? Also as EE and BT are joined I'm in practice not leaving the provider.

I would not mind remaining at BT if at least I could benefit of the full speed I'm paying for using Wifi 6 but this seems not possible at the moment hence I'm toying of moving to EE.

Tried to contact BT but been told someone would call me back which hasn't happened so far.

Well if EE provides a Wifi 6 one why would I buy a third party?

To avoid cancellation fees.

Btw, WiFi 5 will exceed 900M

It doesn't look like I'm having these kind of speeds.
iPhone 14 pro and all I get is barely 400Mbps next to the router

Is that throughput speed or Phy speed?

Try changing channel to see if it improves your speed.

Looks like channel 48 is my best bet.
However running the test again and can't reach more than 400Mbps which is a let down.

I guess a third party would resolve this, any recommendation?

Not really, you know your budget and what whistle and bells you want. Personally, I have absolutely no idea what you are going to do with the speeds you are getting on a single device let alone anything faster, but hey ho.

This is a very valid point. Of course what you spend your money on is entirely up to you, but in the real world what do you need to do with your iPhone that you can't do with a 400Mb connection?

Also bear in mind that if you have DV, you'll still need the SH2 connected for that to work. In which case if you really must have higher speeds then a WiFi 6 mesh or access point might be a better solution. But make sure you research real world speeds & don't get seduced by fictional numbers printed on the box...

As for EE, we do have a report today of someone who was prompted to call EE for an upgrade. When they did they were told that the WiFi6 router doesn't exist & that there were no upgrade options. It's all a bit of a mess so far so best sit tight on that one until the two parties have go their act together.
