BT Full Fibre 900 + Asus Mesh Home Network

HI,

I am just about to order BT FTTP 900. I have a Asus mesh network at the moment with the main router connecter to a BT Buisness Hub 2 set in bridge mode.

Am I correct that to get the Asus Mesh Network to work with the FTTP 900 all I need to do is connect an ethernet cable from the Lan Port on the ONT to the Wan port on the ASUS router?

If not what do I need to do?

yes wan of your ASUS router to ONT lan port then you will set up as POPPE

Hi,

With the setup in the origonal post is there a way of getting BT's digital voice phone to work - maybe incoprating the new smart hub into the network somehow?

you will after but SH2 in to the ONT to get digital voice

No, depends how you configure things. However you configure your network, the SH2 needs to be the first device connected to the ONT for DV to work.

No, and even if it did you wouldn't be able to access DV as a device in bridge mode doesn't have access to the IP layer.

@licquorice What would be the configuration then to allow the use of BT Voice using the SH2, keeping the main asus router as the DHCP server and not having double NAT's?

You can't, you will have to double NAT. If you put the Asus in the DMZ of the SH2 you won't be double port forwarding.

you cant sh2 as got to be mains Hub if you want DV

WOW, I'm surprised BT went down this route with a flagship product.

I don't know why the didn't go with a simple VOIP solution.

But I guess with Mobile phones more and more private homes are doing away with voice land lines anyway.

My son is an avid online gamer so double NAT's is not an option.

Because its not secure enough, the origin of the call needs to be fully verified.

No I haven't, but I have read alot about it causing problems.

Don't believe everything you read. I can't say either way as (a) I'm not a gamer and (b) I only use one router, but I would try it for myself before passing judgement.
