BT has sent tp-link AV1300 kit as wifi speed needs boosting. The router is on a different mains ring to upstairs in house, so I think it won't work ?

What can be done to boost strength of signal?

Could we run an Ethernet cable from the plug to upstairs to pair with the other plug in ?

I would be grateful for any advice.

TIA
