Can I keep my Archer VR2800 when I change to BT Hub2?

Before Xmas we lost use of our landline when Digital Voice came in as we use a tp-link Archer VR2800. We did receive a BT HUB2 but I was reticent to change over as we had numerous devices using the wifi and dozens of Wifi plugs and switches on the 2.4 ghz.

I am told there is a way to configure the VR2800 as a second device so I can get thr landline working again and still have the VR2800 serving the wifi plugs.

Is this correct? and if so I would appreciate some idiot proof guide in configuring the two units?

As has been posted countless times on the forum, do nothing with the hub, give the Archer an IP address of 192.168.1.10 with gateway address 192.168.1.254. Turn off DHCP on the Archer and connect to the hub LAN port to LAN port.

The most simple and reliable manner is to set up the VR2800 as an access point rather than a router. You'd then have the SH2 connected to the outside world and the WAN port of the VR2800 connected to one of the SH2's LAN ports. Also, there is nothing to stop you from changing the WiFi SSID and password on the SH2 to those you were previously using on the VR2800.
Those are the two simple solutions, but if you find you are losing functionality that you've become accustomed to, then there are more complex setups that could help!

@Crimliar the Archer needs to be connected LAN port to LAN port to act as WAP, not WAN port.

If connected to WAN port, you will have 2 networks.

Hub of course otherwise you won't have Digital Voice
