Tp-link Archer vr600 won’t connect to the internet.

Hi guys ,
so I have the Magic socket 5c box that is connected currently to my bt smart home WiFi router. I purchased the vr600 , plugged it into both the wan & wsl connections (obviously on two different occasions) set everything up as suggested on numerous forums ( isp BT_VDSL - account username bthomehub@btbroadband.co.uk password - BT , yet as soon as I do all that it says I have no internet connection?

Tried both wan and the broadband cable port on the VR600 , nothing. I’ve been researching and trying to connect for over 2 hours , safe to say I’m baffled as to why it won’t connect considering as soon as I put my bt hub back on it connects no problem.

any ideas would be amazing.

What are you actually trying to do its not clear.

Are you :

a) Trying to use the vr600 directly connected to the master socket

b) Trying to use the vr600 in conjunction with a BT Smart Hub 2 as an access point

c) Trying to use the vr600 in conjunction with a BT Smart Hub 2 as a router.

But only required if connecting directly to master socket.

Not sure if the OP is connecting to the master socket or the SH2.

Agreed, it's not clear, but I read it as he is trying to connect the VR600 to an NTE5

As @Les-Gibson says you have used the incorrect PPPoE username.

The NTE 5c connects to the DSL socket of the vr600, make sure connection type is BT VDSL

Are you sure you have a VDSL service and not G.Fast, the vr600 won't work on G.Fast

Not sure if I’m honest, don’t know how I’d even find that out , the bt page said I had FTTP if that helps, my old router is a smart hub 2

If you have FTTP your broadband doesn't come via the NTE5c, you should have a fibre modem (ONT).

Can't see how the Smart hub2 works if connected to the 5c if you have FTTP.

I definitely have a master socket 5c and also FTTP mode is set to on

Are you sure you have FTTP and not FTTC?
If the former, you should have a white ONT box with several green lights and you connect this to the WAN (red labelled) socket on your SH2 using an ethernet cable.
If the latter, you'll have an ordinary BT/Openreach master socket and you connect this to the RJ11 port on the SH2 using a BT plug to RJ11 plug cable

That doesn't mean you have FTTP, it just changes LAN port 4 to a WAN port.

What download speed do you get with the Hub, that will indicate what service you have.

Setting FTTP mode to "ON" on your SH2 merely turns the red labelled port from an ordinary LAN port to a WAN port - ready to receive an ethernet cable from the ONT if that is installed.
However, it does not magically provide you with a fibre to the premises service! If you don't have an ONT on your wall somewhere then you don't have FTTP.

Well like I’ve suggested , I have no idea how I’d even know. I have the master socket 5c on my wall and that’s it? I don’t know if that suggests I have FTTP or not

130mbps , my internet now won’t connect at all on my bt router, so somethings obviously wrong now but wasn’t earlier

If you normally get 130Mbs, then that is G.fast, and the VR600 is incompatible with that.

Right, if you are getting 130M you either have G.Fast and your vr600 won't work or you really do have FTTP.

Surely you must know if you have a full fibre ONT?

Fantastic, looks like I’ve wasted £80 then
