BT SH2 slow internet when uploading a file

I've had my Smart Hub 2 for nearly 4 years now and overall it's been working great, delivering on my download and upload speeds without fail, etc. Overall pretty satisfied with it. However since a while ago (when I actually started uploading larger files to the Internet for reasons) I've noticed that my Internet as a whole gets completely slowed down, evident from other devices trying to access the Internet as well, even for general things. It feels weird because when I do the same for downloading large files the Internet itself acts completely fine. Anyone got any answers to this? Thanks

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

If you upload large files it will affect the download speed, that is because each part of a download has to send an acknowledgement back to the server to confirm receipt, before more data can be sent.

If you are fully utilising the upload path, then these acknowledgements will be delayed, and that will affect the download speed.
