Huawei MT992 can't connect with web UI.

MT992 is connect to the WAN port AX3000 and all works fine - there is internet connection but I would like connect to control panel of MT992 to change default log in password.

AX3000 web UI is under 192.168.0.1
MT992 should be available under 192.168.1.1

As MT992 user manual says to change network settings and no luck:
"Select Use the following IP address. Set IP address to 192.168.1.* (* is any integer from 2 to 254), Subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, and Default gateway to 192.168.1.1"

Check internet status in AX3000 settings under PPPoE settings and it shows "Default Gateway: 172.16.xx.xxx" but still no luck.

Any idea how to connect with MT922 web UI?

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

Who supplied the MT992 G.Fast modem, as BT normally supply the BT Smart Hub 2 for G.fast. I assume you are a BT Retail customer?

The MT992 is on a different subnet, so you need to connect to it directly with your laptop set to an IP address within the MT992's subnet. You can't access it via your router.

I'm not even sure the MT992's admin page is accessible in the first place and isn't locked.

As physical access to the MT992 is required to change anything, I'm not entirely sure why you find it necessary to change the admin password in the first place.

Thank you for info about subnet.

I tried with direct connection to the modem and no luck.

I am confused about that admin page because I found that info in users manual:

But I cant find any info about admin panel on any other website.
Even when I search modem model with default password [mt992 "@HuaweiHgw"] it shows just one result.

So all looks like there is no admin panel.

As I said previously, if the MT992 is locked you won't be able to access it in any case.

Did you configure your laptop's Network Adapter as per paragraph 3 in your link?

It's an old thread but still relevant. It would appear theMT992 will be locked (as I suspected) and not possible to unlock.

Are there any benefits to have modem unlocked?
Are there any security cancers with locked modem?

As it cannot be unlocked, the question is academic.

The only reason to unlock a modem is to view the line stats. Clearly a locked modem is more secure than an unlocked one as nobody can access it.

Stop fretting about security and just enjoy your connection.
