Well I didn't download wifi analyser but that's because there are no other nearby routers as our nearest neighbour is about 100 metres away. I think I've tried everything else though.

BT Hub5. I have a reasonably stable broadband connection. HOwever wifi is constantly failing. Event log shows multiple client disassociated, client associated, wifi registration failed messages. These messages completely fill up the entire log for WIFI on the event log. It has become almost impossible to use ipads as connections get lost every couple of minutes. I have tried rebooting the router. Still having the issues.

Is this a recent problem, or has it got worse recently?

Where are the problem clients being used in relation to the router, same room, same floor with one wall between, next floor and a couple of walls between etc?.

Has anything else been changed in the home such as new microwave, new cordless phones etc?

What sort of home is it, flat, terraced house, semi, detached? Could the neighbours have changed their own equipment?

You might want to try installing a piece of software to look a the WiFi signals, I use one called "WiFi Analyser" it can show for example if other WiFi routers are using the same channel and therefore drowning out yours, so choosing a largely unused channel might help.

It may be that your iPad depending on its age, has the Private Wifi Addresses turned on in its settings. This can cause your hubs allocation to devices to fill up and cause disconnections. If it is on, turn it off.

See link

Use private Wi-Fi addresses on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple Watch – Apple Support (UK)

You may have to carry out a factory reset of the Homehub by pressing a pin into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds to clear out all the previous connections to the iPad.

Got much worse recently. Ipad mostly used in room next to router (stud wall), no new devices, detached house in the country, nearest neighbours over 100 yards away. We have two wifi extenders , one on the first floor extending signal to other bedrooms, one on the ground floor providing monitoring link to external 15kW battery installation (installed for just over a year).

Hi @shihan have you tried a refresh of the wifi channel to see if that helps?

Open the Hub Manager by going to https://bthomehub.home or 192.168.1.254 in your web browser

Click on the Settings tab and enter your password. If this is he first time you've gone to the Hub Manager, your password is the 'Admin password' on your Hub settings card. If you like, you can change the password to something else by selecting the Admin password option

Click on the Wireless tab, then click Refresh under the "Smart Wireless" section

The Hub will check wireless channels and after a minute or so will have chosen the best one

Have tried all the suggestions above, refreshed, reset, turned off Private wifi addresses, turned off the screen near to the router. BT support indicated my hub (5) was quite old and she would send out a new one. That was nearly 2 weeks ago. Nothing received and nothing solved.

Whilst you shouldn't have to, have look at your local Facebook Marketplace for a Smart Hub (not SH2). Shouldn't cost much & will prove if it's the router.

You mention you have 2 WiFi extenders, could you turn them off for a short while and see if it makes any difference. I have heard of cases where the client keeps changing from one AP to another (no idea why) so having only the AP on the router active would largely eliminate the extenders (I would restart the router once the extenders have been turned off). If the problem still exhibits after a short while then turn the extends back on and report back on here.

It is always helpful to report what caused the problem, if you know, and how it was solved or not on a thread for those searching with similar symptoms in the future.

Have recently turned off my 2 wifi extenders. It has not made any difference. Constant client disassociations and associations. This has been going on now for ages. I recently rebooted the router and disconnected the wifi extenders as suggested. No difference. Have tried all the suggestions in this thread - no difference. Running out of patience with BT. Was promised new router by technical as mine is now quite old (HH5). This never arrived.

if you have tried all the suggestions and none have solved the problem then phone CS (assuming you are still in contract) and ask for replacement as your HH5 is faulty 03301234150
