So daft question, when your connection goes down how long are you giving it to reconnect? VDSL2 has a number of options it can go through to try to find the best connection that it can - sometimes this may mean the connection cycling several times over several minutes.

Hello! You may have seen me from this post in which I had issues with DSL connections, that mystery seems to be unsolved for now but anyway, here is another issue that I've had with both the previous BT Smart Hub 2 and my current network setup (vigor 130 and flint 2).

It seems that for whatever reason, my speeds turn incredibly slow and I have to restart the modem to fix it. I know this is not a router issue because I have directly connected my laptop to the modem through ethernet and I get the same, if not worse, internet speeds. I sometimes get anywhere from 15mbps down 5 up, to 5mbps down and 0.80 up. For reference, my contracted speeds are 73 down and 18 up, which after SQM is 60 down 15 up.

Here are the speed test results - As you can see, they are far far below acceptable. Is this a modem issue or an ISP issue?

Just a reminder that an engineer did come over and found no issues with the line.

Hi @Crimliar, it really depends, sometimes it takes 30s and sometimes it takes 3 minutes, I usually just restart the modem as its the fastest way of getting the connection back up. Still unsure whether this is a modem or router issue, customer support of the router is also confused as all they see is a network link loss but do not know whether the router or the modem disconnects first.
