Yes, the SH2 is plugged directly into the Openreach socket. I'm starting to think that the problem is the motherboard adapter which I did try to reset as a possible solution to the problem. Bypassing the switch and plugging a limited number of devices into the SH2 shows that they do work, it is just the PC that won't fully connect. Thank you for taking the time to reply

I have a Smarthub 2 - and the connection is fibre to cabinet.

A 'TP link' range extender in the kitchen/diner - and anything logged onto this extension works perfectly. Internet speeds are good.

There are 5 ethernet connections (cctv, tesla gateway, two televisions and a PC) plugged into a Netgear GS308v3 8 port ethernet switch, which is where I have the problem.

The cctv and tesla gateway work.

The televisions can fail to load streaming apps, but once logged in tend to stream okay, but can buffer.

The PC shows connected to the internet, and can send and receive Signal messages and emails but cannot open websites (different browsers have been tried). 'unable to find that website'

Cables have been replaced, both the switch and the homehub turned on and off endless times.

On the PC IPv6 has been turned off to no gain, as has IPv4 (and turned back on now of course). dns purge, winsock reset etc. all without gain.

Plugging directly into the homehub rather than the Netgear switch has the same result

Finally, if I try to connect to the main wireless signal, I can connect to the homehub but there is no internet access initially, but internet can 'arrive' after a few minutes.

Any suggestions welcome

“Plugging directly into the homehub rather than the Netgear switch has the same result”… so it’s not the switch then.

Without knowing more about which websites are the problem, the most likely culprit is DNS. You can’t change that on the Smart Hub but there is nothing to stop you changing to 8.8.8.8, (Google’s public DNS), on the PC itself.

Just to clarify, you have got the SH2 plugged directly into to either the phone line or the ONT.

At times I cannot even get a response to a ping to 8.8.8.8 but, as I have commented to another reply , I'm starting to think that the problem is the motherboard adapter which I did try to reset as a possible solution to the problem. Bypassing the switch and plugging a limited number of devices into the SH2 shows that they do work, it is just the PC that won't fully connect. Thank you for taking the time to reply

Do you have two DHCP servers running on your network?

For Example, the TP-Link RE500X Wi-Fi extender (to name but 1) has it's own DHCP server which by default uses a pool of addresses in the 192.168.0.xxx subnet, if you have made any changes to this such that it matches the SH2 subnet (192.168.1.xxx) and both servers are enabled then you could have IP clashes.

As long as the SH2 DHCP server is enabled then you don't need the one on the extender and it can safely be disabled.

I admit to doing nothing much more than plugging it in and letting it do its stuff. The bthomehub 'my devices' shows DHCP next to the IP address and so I have to think that the SH2 is acting as the DHCP server? Now I've to learn how to log into the range extender!

I've just read the TP link manual and it relies on the router's DHCP, it doesn't have its own server. Thank you for the suggestion.
