The checker was always intended for the ISP to use not the customer, the fact that access was available by consumers was not a feature, more of a ‘loophole’ that was never closed ……you say it was useful in diagnosing problems, but this is for your provider to do , not you …..if you can’t see this any longer , that’s just tough luck , your provider has the necessary tools and it’s their job to diagnose problems, not yours, what’s more , even if you could ‘see’ issues using this tool , you still had to contact your provider, same as you do now

True, but with useless non technical helpdesk sitting offshore somewhere that don't understand much (BT) ... it helps to know as much information as possible to get to resolving the issue that little bit quicker - IP profile information as was that vital piece of info that's now not available.

You could use the BT app, or one of the many online speed checkers.

The BT Wholesale one has definitely been ceased. Its possible the helpdesk are unaware.

There is no specific one. I tend to use the Google one, which is the first one that comes up if you search for "speed test"

Test your internet speed

The internet speed test measures the speed of your internet connection. Your connection speed includes things like download speed and upload speed.

Important: This feature isn’t available in some countries and regions.

You can test your internet download and upload speed:

Go to Google.com.

Search for
internet speed test
.

Tap or click Run Speed Test.

Google partners with Measurement Lab (M-Lab) to run this test.

192.168.1.254 shows you what the router sees, or you can also use the MyBT app. (I’ve not used it for a while so I may have missed a step). Open the app, click on the three dots bottom right, you should see a tab for “test my speed” or something similar.

Run the test, you should see two results, router performance and the speed result to the device you are using to run the test.

Just as a FYI, I don't use the BT home hub, I've got my own Netgear Router.

I don't really want to do a speedtest, it's more about finding out the IP Profile BT has set for my line at that time. How do I simply view that without calculating the % of the sync speed? I know I can do it this way but I'd rather just see the IP profile that BT has set.

Cheers

You can tell if your sync speed is as it should be by simply looking at the noise margin in the hub stats. It should be 6dB or possibly as low as 3dB if you have a good line.

Must admit I don't remember ever seeing ip profile when running speedtester on FTTC what makes you think there is any problem. as @licquorice posted noise margin will give better idea if connection as it should be.

if you are getting numerous drops in connection then you could end up with DLM taking action and be in a banded profile

Please explain to me in technical terms how knowing your IP profile will give you any more information than the sync speed and noise margin.

IP profile information is a leftover from the days of locked modems where it was not possible to see the line stats.

Please explain to me in technical terms how knowing your IP profile will give you any more information than the sync speed and noise margin.

Sync is where it should be, SNR target margin is at 3db/Retransmission set to low. Not getting actual high throughput speed ... what could be wrong? Let me check IP profile (in case it's stuck - as it's sometimes known to be) ... oh can't do that ... Would've have pinpointed the issue at least and saved 5 business days and prob a home visit!
