Bought a new build 2yrs ago, they never connected our BT line because they said BT was too busy - all houses except the last two on the site were connected.

We have used 4th Utility as they also have cables run to the houses and they happily connected us the day we moved in with only £20 activation fee. It was easy!

But we now want to look at other options on providers and cost, and they all want a BT line. We have no white box on the house, just cables so we don't know where to look for getting it wired in - any advice appreciated.

Thanks!

It is not a BT line it is an openreach connection which has nothing to do with BT RETAIL. the openreach connection is used by many providers. You need to select a provider and try placing an order

You might want to try contacting the builder to see what agreements were in place. If Openreach were paid to connect all the houses on the estate then there would be a means of going forward regards breach of contract.

*I only know this because we were in the reverse situation, where OpenReach stepped in when a third party that had taken money, and ownership of ducting then decided it wasn't going to actually bother to provide service. Full resolution of this took maybe six years!
