At the risk of stating the obvious, when you say you entered the correct IP address I take it you mean an address in the BT router's range. If your network is on the default settings for the BT router, the IP address must start with 192.168.1 If it is different, other devices will not see it.

Alternatively, any switches in the network may need a restart to drop the old MAC address and get the new one.

Bit of a last resort but members have been good enough to give me help in the past so I wonder if anyone has the magic wand. I have a Sony Android TV and a Ugreen NAS both on the same LAN connecting through a BT/EE router. I have the PLEX app installed on the TV and it can ‘see’ PLEX on the NAS without issue. Having decided to swop to Jellyfin and I installed it on the NAS together with the app on the TV.

My problem is that, having put in the correct IP address, the app on the TV can not find the NAS on the network. Clutching at straws I installed the app on my iPad but again I get the message ‘Can not connect to server’.

Sorry for the long preamble which does not appear to be a BT issue but I pose the question here just in case anyone is aware of anything in the router setup that may be preventing connection.

Many thanks, John

Thanks. I believe the address to be: 192.168.1.145:8096

OK. Another suggestion then.

I’m not familiar with the EE router but with the BT Smart Hub, while that address would be legit, it would also be in the range being issued dynamically.

If you’ve set that statically, it may be clashing with another device that has that address. I’d take a look at the address table on the router’s DHCP if I were you.

Sorted. It would seem the NAS should not be connected by Ethernet to the EE WiFi extender but direct to the router. You live and learn. Thanks again. John

Ah. Again, I'm not personally familiar with the Wi-Fi extenders, but I would expect that ethernet connection is just for the extenders backhaul. Glad you're sorted anyway.

Ethernet ports on WiFi extenders are usually pretty dumb, and will use the network protocols to operate either as back-haul or for a connection to a device or even a switch. That said, as it is working I'd leave everything as is for now at least!
