BT hub2 beeps twice every hour

BT hub2 beeps twice every hour, we were put on Digital voice part fibre which is when the beeping started, we have had a new hub & battery backup sent to us, have used different plugs & still it beeps, spoke to BT many many times and nobody seems to know wht or what the solution is, it is really annoying the beeping is quite intrusive, any answers would be appreciated

I don’t think the Smart Hub can beep? At least, I don’t think mine ever has. (I’m sure someone will correct me on that).

Are you sure it’s not the battery backup squawking about the batteries being flat? Is it plugged in properly?

Are you sure the beeps are coming from the SH2? I was not aware that this device had any ability to beep.
Is the beep instead coming from a phone plugged into the hub?

As above the SH2 dosnt bleep

It's almost certainly low battery warning

Chrisjp raises a good point.

Digital Voice comes with the 1571 answer service. As far as I know, the message waiting warning is given by a different dial tone, not the phone beeping, but it could depend on the model of phone I suppose.

Might be worth dialling 1571 and seeing if any messages are waiting.

If the OP has recently migrated to DV, then BT "helpfully" leaves a "Welcome to DV" message on the phone line.
Some phones (mine included) do indeed beep when such a message is waiting in the 1571 voicemail service.
However, if a message is waiting, they'll also be an "interrupted" dial tone which unfortunately sounds quite like the old engaged tone.

The backup battery is fully charged as is the phone, no messages on 1571

A tricky one then.

When you say “phones”, were they supplied for the change to Digital Voice (DV)?

There are a lot of posts on here about the batteries supplied with the phones being defective and not holding their charge. Might be worth a search for some of those posts, see if they ring any bells. (No pun intended).

I’ve not heard that about the battery backup units, but it is also a possibility.

I can't see how it can be the hub beeping, it doesn't have a speaker.

Turn the hub off to see if you still hear the beeps.

Obviously if it has no power it can't beep so that will rule it out and you can try and track down what is beeping knowing it is not the hub.

Also don't rule out your smoke alarms.

With several you'll physically have to be really near to identify the culprit

Again do you have smart meter...they also have the capacity to beep.

Smoke alarm is in another room & we don’t have a smart meter, I have stood next to the hub & it is definitely the hub, all very confusing

Hi @CarieCass So did you prove it by turning it off and then the beeping stops?

As I said at the start, sounds like the battery backup unit. Is it connected properly?

Beeping stopped bt engineer sorted it thanks for your help
