My solution was to find another provider. I had the Halo 3 system with three disks. Internal covetrage was poor with frequent disconnections and poor streaming ability. The 'breakerless' wi-fi router did not work as there is no EE coverage in my area. My new system has no extender disks or hive type system yet I now get full coverage and am able to stream without constant issues. This clearly shows the equipment provided was not fit for purpose.

BT broadband - super extra sxxt. God, i hope you go under

Broadband today should be a basic utility, like water or electricity. It should simply work when needed. Unfortunately this is not the case with BT. I live in a small house but the WiFi router does not cover the whole property. Xbox Live is throttled and downloading anything on my Steam Deck requires moving around the house to find a usable signal. I am paying for a service that feels unreliable and not fit for modern use. I have previously dealt with BT technical support and the experience resulted in weeks of wasted time and no resolution, so I am not willing to repeat that process. This is not a complex technical challenge. Other providers are able to deliver stable broadband, so there is no valid excuse for this level of service. The connection is outdated, unreliable and not fit for purpose

This is a vintage 2002 like broadband experience all over again. Same as this web board.

Well water and electricity are only supplied to the house. If there are any problems with their distribution inside the house it is your job to get a plumber or a sparky in.

Broadband is no different. BT and Openreach are only responsible for getting it to the house. If the problem is poor Wi-Fi inside the house, that is your problem to sort out, just same as the plumbing.

Unfortunately, you are not talking to BT. This is a customer-to-customer help forum, and the only BT employees are the moderators, who don’t necessarily read every post.

To even begin to offer advice we would need to know more about the construction of the house, location of the hub etc. For example, it could be just weak signal penetration due to solid old-fashioned walls, in which case some extender disks might help. Or it could be interference from the neighbour’s equipment, in which case a change of channel will help.

There is lots of experience on here. Give us a bit more information to go on and I'm sure someone will offer advice.

I think I'm going down the same route - halo 3 with 3 discs and can't keep a stable WiFi connection overnight. It's really not good enough when we're paying £80 a month for the privilege

I was paying about £87 per month including home telephone as there is no mobile signal in my area. I had a two year contract under the full fibre promise which they never delivered. I'm now paying less than half that for full fibre which is more than 10x faster which has enabled me to purchase up-to-date equipment. I now have a very happy household 🙂

" Ill make sure ill get rid of bt asap"

If the problem is with WiFi in your house, swapping a BT broadband connection to another provider is unlikely to make a difference.
Your best solution will probably be to buy a third party mesh WiFi system. These plug into routers/hubs from ANY broadband provider and you buy as many mesh node units as you need to get full WiFi coverage. Normally 3 such units are enough, but if not, it's simple to add more units.

Three is usually the recommended maximum as having them too close together can cause problems. An excessive number of nodes between you and the router will also cause problems with latency etc.
