WiFi issue after turning off 5ghz network

I have a Smart Hub 2 which has been working perfectly for over a year. Last week I was installing two smart plugs which just wouldn’t connect to my WiFi so had to turn off the 5ghz network to do so. Finished doing that and turned the 5ghz network back on but have encountered problems ever since.

Firstly my iPhone and iPad kept dropping off WiFi and reconnecting seconds later. Everything else was fine. Eventually concluded it was the 5ghz network so switched it off again. iPhone and iPad fine at that point.

However since then I’ve noticed my iPhone eventually slows down to a crawl even though iPad right next to it is the normal speed. A reboot of the iPhone solves it but needing to do this every morning now.

I still can’t switch on the 5ghz network as it causes both devices to drop/reconnect every few seconds.

Any ideas?

have you tried simply turning hub off and then restarting and failing that maybe a factory reset using recessed button on back and holding 15/20 secs until hub lights flash

I haven’t tried factory reset as yet.

Anyway I’ve turned it back on and selected Channel 40 instead of 36.

So far it’s not dropping and reconnecting continually although had to tell the iPhone to forget the network and then connect again.

I’ll need to wait and see if the slowdown to a crawl issue appears with the iPhone.

My favourite, is the individual who resurrects a post from 3 years ago responding as though the original poster made it that day but no one else seems to notice. That's the problem when there isn't a system in place that won't automatically close dormant threads after six months.
