Not as far as I know.

The HH2 is very old. It might just have given up due to old age.

If you allocate a static address below 192.168.1.63 to the HH2, (when you can get into it), you will then always know what the address is and be able to access it via that address.

Has BT done a software change to HH v6 that prevents connection of an old HH v2 type A?

Until recently I had an old HH2.0 Type A connected by ethernet cable to the router which is a HH6, and the HH2.0 acted as an ethernet switch for additional wired devices, and an additional wireless access point for my home LAN.

Now it seems to have stopped working. I cannot see the HH2.0 on the list of connected devices in the admin pages of the HH6.

Has BT sent out a new firmware / software update to the HH6 that might have this effect?

Unfortunately I cannot access the settings of the HH2 when connected to just one PC because I don't know what IP address the admin page has been set to on this device.

Thanks for your reply. I elected to do a factory reset on the HH2. After this, the IP address was seemingly 192.168.1.254, but when I attempted to login all of my browsers failed due to SSL incompatibility! I swapped to an old Vista PC with old versions of FF and Chrome and was able to access the login page - however I was unable to log in. The HH2 requires one to change the default password on first use, and I couldn't get it to move past this page.

So unless someone has a bright idea I guess I should consider the HH2 to be defunct. It's a shame because it made a good network extender!

When you say HH2 I take that is a Home Hub 2 from donkey’s years ago and not the more recent Smart Hub 2 (SH2)?

Either way, the password is usually printed on it somewhere. It should just be a matter of resetting it to what you had before.

You will need to reset the IP address to something below 64 as your other BT router will be using 192.168.1.254 and they will clash*. Anything below 64 is not issued by the router. For example, 192.168.1.10

Modern browsers will let you connect to it but will give you all kinds of warnings about how risky it is as it doesn’t support SSL/HTTPS. They are nonsense, as there is no risk when you are connecting to your own device inside your own network, so you can just click to accept the risk and continue.

*So you will need to connect the HH2 to a separate computer, or turn off your router, until you reset the address.

Crikey! If it is an ancient HH2, I've still got two of 'em up in my loft, both brand new, still in the boxes, one from BT, one from Plusnet. They might be worth something one day.
