Yesterday, a strange thing happened. I was browsing as usual on my old Windows 10 laptop (one of at least two) when it suddenly lost connection (over WiFi using the Smart Hub 2 router. I did the usual checks on the computer and checked the Device Manager and ran the Trouble Shooter where some error flashed up. The Device Manager showed the WiFi adapter was OK and other devices in my house such as two phones and Tablets and my other laptop connected OK. I was about to ditch this most used daily laptop when in a last ditch effort I decided to restart the Smart Hub 2 router. After the restart the laptop connected instantly!

I've never had this problem before so I am somewhat baffled as to what happened.

It may have been your hub had received a software update and as a result it dropped the devices that were connected while it installed on the hub and your laptop had a problem reconnecting.

Restarting the hub often fixes glitches and doing that would have forced the devices to reconnect again and your laptop obviously found it that time.

Or it could have been "just one of those things" and we will never know what caused it.

Speaking as a retired tech, the idea of turn it off and turn back on again is not the joke people think it is.

A reboot can clear a lot of minor problems and in the trade you only usually have time to investigate further if the same problem keeps happening. A reboot is often the first thing to try.

Absolutely it was just that other devices were not having the problem.
