Cannot save Smart Hub 2 admin password in Firefox or Edge

I have no problem accessing the hub manager and entering the admin password but I have to type it every time because neither browser offers to save it. Never had this problem with the old hub.

Any suggestions please?

Firefox saves it ok for me. It is a browser/device problem, not a BT problem.

have you pressed neve by ccident n the one time it asked tto save or hanged the offer to save password setting

You can save the password manually. Go to the Firefox settings by clicking on the 3 lines at the top right hand side and click on "passwords" and click on the + beside the search box. This will open a section where you can enter the relevant details then click "save".

It is the same in Edge.

Thanks but with both browsers the password is already saved.

My problem is that you don't need a password to open the Hub Manager only when you want admin permission (for Advanced settings etc). At that point you are asked to enter a password as usual but there is no password manager popup so I need to type it every time.

Could this be linked to the https issue below. The BT help seems to say just ignore it which I do. Obviously never happened with the old hubs.

Have you updated the saved password since the change to HTTPS? The site will have changed from HTTP://192.168.1.254/ to HTTPS://192.168.1.254

Yes but Edge for example opens the Hub manager with this in the address bar:

I assume this is related to the certificate issue mentioned in the BT help page I linked. Manager still works normally except for not being able to automatically insert the admin password.

I am starting to think the problem is linked to the way this admin login window works:

I changed the URL to https://bthomehub.home/ and that forced Edge to prompt me to save the password.

I did that but after closing the browser and reopening Hub Manager there was still no auto password completion.

The log on is not on a separate web page, it is a dropdown box from within the Dashboard screen so I doubt that the browsers will recognise it as a webpage logon and as such it will not be able to be saved by the browser.

If you are correct that the browsers will not recognise the password entry as a logon why is it that the first time I used either URL and entered a password the browsers prompted me to save it and did so? The issue is that autofill of the saved password does not trigger.

UPDATE

In Firefox I deleted the previous saved password entries for both URLs. I then used the URLs again and saved the passwords when prompted. On subsequently using Hub Manager the password is now auto completed. 😊

Will not bother with Edge. Thanks for all the responses.
