Without judging me can u please explain how they have done this because everyone time I have reported them to the police I have been mistreated and no one takes me seriously. This is really happening

Two indian brothers who live next door have been harassing me for years since 2022 it was in 2026 I found out they have hacked my tv and devices because they were making comments outloud about sites I have visited and what is being shown on my TV screen.

There were 2 entry points in our home 1 was the wifi extender and 2 Tapo tp link security cameras plugged into common wall

I know for a fact they got onto our network and have exploited security vulnerabilites on my devices that allows them to see the screens in real time

of 2 2013 Smart TVs

a iphone and macbook air both using outdated software.

After I found out they were hacking I removed the wifi extender, reset the HUb and changed the hub passwords.

Whatever he has used is a spyware or malware because he's made a persistent connection and the only way to kick him off is a total factory reset of everything.

Even after resettting the hub he attacked a new device a chromebook. He could see the screen of my chromebook.

I just want to ask how is he doing this and how to stop him.

Is he using a pivoting technique by using the security cameras to attack my devices?

Nobody on the forum can tell you how or if anybody has hacked into your home network and or devices.

Anything suggested would just be speculation because all your devices would need to be checked and scanned to see if they have been compromised.

You would be better to get a local reputable computer/network technician to check to see what if anything has been compromised and carry out a fix.

No. Apart from the fact that this is a BT residential customer to customer forum. Your post does not go to BT. The only BT staff are the forum moderators who do not necessarily read all the posts.

The security of your network and any equipment using it is your responsibility not BT's.

BT offer antiviruse/malware programs with most package but it is your choice to use them.

There is some information in the following links.

https://www.bt.com/help/email/email-security/how-can-i-tell-if-my-email-account-is-no-longer-secure

https://www.bt.com/help/email/email-security

https://www.bt.com/help/security

As has been said, to diagnose your problem is virtually impossible without being on site.

Are you using a BT router and has it ever been anywhere the neighbours could see it? In a window, perhaps. Remember, it only takes a minute to photo something these days and BT routers have the password on the back. If it’s a third-party router, is remote access disabled?

When you say you have reset the passwords, how secure were the new passwords? You are really looking at 20+ random characters today, including upper & lowercase, numbers and symbols.

Are any of those old devices using WEP? (The world record for cracking WEP was 6 seconds years back, so it’s probably almost instant today). The absolute minimum you want is WPA2.

Can the security camera see anything sensitive?

If the security camera is connected to the cloud, you need to make sure that account password is secured, as well. Do you have it setup for access from outside? Again, that needs to be really secure or better still, removed altogether.

(Edit: In fact, thought occurs, if that security camera is in the livingroom and can see the TV, that may be what is going on!)

You also need to scan each of your devices with an up-to-date anti-virus package.

Again, as has been said, obsolete devices are a liability.

"Yes, a compromised TP-Link Tapo Security camera can theoretically be used as a pivot point or foothold to target other devices on the same local network."

The only way he can attack my out of date devices is by being on my network and this is how he attacked my devices and remained hidden and his first initial entry point might have possibly been the wifi extender.

@omar72 For starters, why can't you just stop using your BT router and buy your own more up to date bit of kit? One that at least has WPA3 Encryption. Split off your cameras and other IoT devices onto a guest network. Basically, lock down everything properly.

None of your problems are actually anything at all to do with BT. As has already been pointed out, the security of your devices is essentially entirely down to you. BT provide 'tool's to help you. If you don't use those tools, then that is on you. I've got outside security cameras, dishwasher/washing machine, heating, TV, plus a load of other devices all on WiFi. Never, not once has my own system been hacked because quite simply, it's properly locked down. It would have to take a professional dedicated hacker to break into my system and as a general Mr Nobody on this planet, no one is going to bother doing that. Which leads me to wonder, why exactly have your neighbours taken such and interest in what it is you do?

You've admitted yourself, you're using Apple devices with out of date software, TV's over a decade old that from a security perspective, clearly aren't fit for purpose. I can only wonder if you own a PC or laptop, just how out of date on updates they are? I believe there are people out there still using Windows XP and W7/8 for example. With much respect to them all, if they get hacked, then that is entirely on them.

No one here knows how your neighbours are hacking your system, but you can take corrective action if you have the will and possibly the funds to do so. What's happened to others on this forum, is irrelevant. Their situation will have been different to your own. Take responsibility for the problem and own it.

I'm sorry @imjolly and @WSH but why does an adapter need to be plugged into a socket on the adjoining wall for it to be a problem with potential breach? Firstly, power line technology uses power lines (as the name suggests), so any power lines on which such adapters operate would be an issue. For that reason, therefore, power line adapters use encryption between different adapters and I think if you're using that, the chances are very slim of anyone being able to hack them. I've been using power line technology for years and never had any issues, though I use Devolo. I've not been aware of any issues with 'hacking' them either, unless Reddit is now considered to be the fountain of knowledge and all the truth.

The OP's claims that they overheard something are purely speculative and to be honest, read like some kind of conspiracy theory. On top of everything, I don't understand what ethnicity has to do with any of that (the OP's mention of "two Indian brothers"). Why does it even matter that they're Indian, other than being xenophobic. Tye whole post by the OP reads like it's quite personal. My advice: the OP should check their own devices, rather than make up stories (= accuse) about other people hacking the OP's network etc. without providing any *substantiated* evidence of hacking.

@WSH I logged into my account for the first time in months a few days ago and noticed there were notifications. So, I just followed up on them and I've had the time to do that today finally. Nothing personal. I don't know you at all. However, you had posted things that were of interest to me so I responded to them. Is that abnormal?

Everybody calm down and relax please.

@imjolly well, not everyone knows how these power line adapters work, so am not surprised people claim they're not secure or something. They're very secure and although there is always a very slim chance they could be hacked (just like any other device or system), it's very unlikely, unless the user does something that enables this kind of process (my mother, for example, who connected her Bluetooth to her neighbour's HiFi system and was very proud of the fact, but also surprised by it, that she was able to play her music on a neighbour's HiFi and hear it through the wall. Essentially, the neighbour had accepted a pairing request, not knowing what they accept).

@imjolly I've had a search on this forum for posts about powerline adapters and neighbours, and all I'm getting is a picture of confused users who think they know what they're doing, but in fact, have no idea. So, please, unless you have palpable evidence of powerline adapters not working as they should (in terms of encryption), please stop repeating incorrect information that neighbours can magically end up with someone else's internet, if everything is properly secured, because they can't, even if a powerline adapter is used on an adjoining wall etc.
