domain in Blocked Senders list not being blocked

I have received 4 emails in my spam box from a domain that I have previously blocked, namely elmogaz.uk.net

Is the blocker not working ?

It is a waste of time blocking the domain that you see on spam emails. If it was that easy there would be no spam.

The email address and domain will invariably not be the actual domain that the spam is coming from as the email address will most likely have been spoofed to over come the spam filters and fool the recipient into opening the email.

If you go into the Headers of the spam email you will be able to see the originating email address and domain and it is that domain that needs to be blocked.

I've been having a deeper look (using view source) at my recent spam emails and agree that using the tools provided by BT does seem to be pointless and that they're not fit for purpose.

Examples:

Emails in my spam folder marked as "from" ableton. com - another "from" chime.com
Both actually sent from: architecture.alphabuymarket.com

So, clearly spoofed sender addresses.

When I use the tools provided to "Block Sender" & "Block Domain" I can then see both ableton. com and chime.com were added to my blocked senders list.

The spam filter put the emails into the Spam folder, so obviously detected an issue.

The source view shows "dmarc=fail header.from=chime.com", and the actual return path"<no-reply@architecture.alphabuymarket.com" but none of the "guilty" addresses have been added or blocked and are free to continue sending more spam and phishing emails. The actual sender architecture.alphabuymarket.com, not blocked. The targets of the buttons in the email, (greensenseview.com and suplementaire.com) were not blocked, and these are where the payload code lives that could infect your PC or gather personal information about you if you click the links.

I'm actually subscribed to ableton.com and use their music studio software. If I hadn't gone into my blocked senders list and removed ableton.com, I would have stopped getting updates and news from them.

I have manually added all the "guilty" spam senders' emails and the target web addresses in the links as blocked senders. I suspect this will have no effect, as I'd previously added/blocked greensenseview.com but continue to see them in the links in spam.

Questions:

What is the point of the tools provided by BT if all they do is block the "spoofed" legitimate websites and senders?

What is the point of my manually adding and blocking the actual scammers addresses & links if BT don't use the information I provide to then prevent and block them going forward when found within emails?

What is the "official advice" from the BT tech team on how to report and block spam?

None of this is BT official advice:

You will not get any information regarding spam from the BTMail Team other than what is posted on the BT website in the following links. They will not give out any information that could assist spammers.

The "Block Sender" is only of use if you have a genuine email address to block. ie you no longer want to receive emails from some person or company that are using their own email address and not a "spoofed" email address.

As has been already pointed out in message 5 above. You need to check the headers and block the spammers real sending email address not the spoofed email address.
