HI, I have a strange problem.

I was migrated to EE and email was working OK, until recently.

Now when I am connected to my EE Wi-Fi if go to www.bt.com/email the page will not open, the site just times out and I do not even get to the logon page, The bt.com site works OK and shows my email accounts. I also cannot get email using an Email client (Outlook) on either my PC or mobile phone.

The strange part about this is if I use a VPN I can access without any problem. (The website and mail client). On my phone if I switch off Wi-Fi and use mobile data everything works OK.

I checked SSL with Qualsys and it did not find any issues. I cannot find any other sites that do not work,

The problem has me baffed and BT/EE do not understand and think it is a Wi-Fi signal problem,

Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve? Thanks in advance.

When you say EE Wifi do you mean the free EEWifi or your own EE broadband signal that is your private home network which is broadcast by your home's router.

Have you tried a factory reset of the router that you are using to see if that helps.

Hi apologies, I mean connecting to EE Wi-Fi at home connecting to the Smart Wi-Fi Pro Hub. I have restarted the hub numerous times and also done a factory reset. Problem seems to have started after some back end changes were made to enable groups and parental controls to work. There are no parental controls turned on.

Are you an EE customer or a BT customer?

EE have their own forum which may be a better place to post your problem if it is something that has started after the EE customer service reps were tinkering.

https://community.ee.co.uk/?page=forums

If you are still a BT customer, you should check to see if BT Web Protect has been activated and if it has turn it off as it is known to cause some issues.

https://www.bt.com/help/security/set-up-and-use-bt-web-protect

It may also be relevant to EE customers but not being an EE customer I do not know if it is part of their set up but it may be worth checking to see if is and if it is activated.

I dont have Web Protect as I think this was part of Norton on BT.
However I found the problem was with Advanced Web Protect. I had not changed any settings, but once I turned it off I can connect the the BT Mail Servers.
