Can anyone tell me if I change my password on MyBT (either via the website or BT app) will this also change my web mail password or are the systems separate?

I believe they are connected so changing one will update the other

Thanks for your reply. So why, when I recently changed.my webmail PW, didn't my MyBT PW change at the same time? I can't log into My BT with my email pw

I've always used separate passwords.

I assume they are not linked, unless you use the same. To use the same password for different things has long been regarded as insecure and bad practice.

As far as I can remember, in the past BT had the MyBT and the "main" email passwords linked if they were the same. This allowed you to log onto your MyBT then go directly to your email within MyBT without logging on to your email.

Because of this it meant that if you changed the password changing one changed the other.

This link was done away with some time ago, no doubt due to the security or lack off of having the direct link to both if one or other was hacked.

You can still have the same password if you decide to do that but they are no longer linked so changing one does not affect the other.

Righto thanks for this. I find the BT webmail, app and website so unreliable I am reluctant to change things in fear of getting locked out of my email. So I will try a "forgot password" on my MyBT account now and see what happens as I am currently unable to see any of my account details, bills payments etc
