There is nothing "Premium" about a BT Premium Email account except its price.

Just so that you know, you would have kept your BTMail accounts when you left BT. They would not be deleted nor would you lose access to them.

They would have been "downgraded" to the free BTMail Basic account which can only be used with a web browser.

If you do not use either email clients or email apps and only ever access your email using a web browser you are wasting your £7.50 per month because BTMail Basic would be all you need.

Following a switch of broadband I wanted to keep my BT email so I asked to be put onto BT Email Premium. I have now been informed that this has been done but my email looks exactly as it did before. How do I know that I am in fact now using Premium? Should it look any different?

No, of course it won't look any different, it's exactly the same as you had before except you are now paying for it because you no longer have BT broadband.

Check in MyBT to see your email type.

Thanks for your reply. I do access my BT email via Thunderbird so I do need Premium.

And if you can still access your email via Thunderbird then that confirms that you are on "Premium".

Not necessarily, BT are notoriously slow in downgrading standard email accounts to Basic
