Yes, IMAP is preferable as all devices stay in sync as well as in sync with webmail.

I will shortly be setting up Outlook/Office 365 as my client for my BT email. I can see from other posts that that may be complex/problematic but I will worry about that if/when I need to. My question now - which might be stupid - is this: once my email 'downloads' to Outlook for offline access will I still be able to access it all via webmail in the browser as I have done for more years than I care to remember or does installing outlook move it to local email only?

Sorry if a stupid question as about such matters I am indeed ignorant.

Cheers

Yes if you set the account up as IMAP on Outlook. No, if you set the account up as POP3 on Outlook unless you tick to save a copy of the message on the server.

Thank you! So I need to set it up as IMAP if I want to retain the webmail (which I do)?
