Discovery Channel

I currently have the Big Sport package with the Now Entertainment Addon and also the HD Addon. I have been trying to watch the Discovery Channel and it keeps asking me to upgrade my package to the VIP Package.

On the BT website it is showing on the Now Entertainment Addon that it comes with the discovery channel so why is it not working. Also it won't allow me to watch it via the BT TV App also

The Discovery channel isn't included in the Big Sport package. (I'm the same as yourself - Big Sport + NOW entertainment add-on).

It shows the discovery channel logo when you click on see channels in the my bt account option. I currently trying to speak to them about it.

Is the channel working in the BT TV App

Yes, I see what you're talking about now. I suspect it's a mistake in See channels but I hope I'm wrong!

Are you getting the same message when trying to watch it on the BT TV App it is saying you need to upgrade the package. I am trying to get to speak to someone at BT

Yes. A need to upgrade to VIP message when trying to watch through the EPG and Pro box. A need to upgrade your package message when trying to watch through the BT TV app. Good luck!

I spoken to someone at BT and they have said that I won't have to upgrade my package . I have to call them again tomorrow because they said they will do a software update on my box and restart my box. They couldn't do it when I was speaking to them as I was not at home

And I would double check with BT that its not a Factory reset they will do which will delete all your recordings.

Unfortunately I suspect there is no magic software update to resolve this and support is just following one of several messages that seem to appear when attempting to setup the Discovery channel on a package where it it is not included.

It is available on the Now Entertainment Addon. If you login to your My BT and go to your products and go to the part your add on and when it shows the Now Entertainment Addon click on ser channels the discovery channel logo is showing.

The Entertainment addon to your current TV package you have is for Now Entertainment membership which would comprise those channels included in Now Entertainment membership, Discovery is not a Now Entertainment channel ( if it were it would be available to all with Now membership in the Now App). Were you to flex your package to Entertainment then that package would include the now entertainment membership channels , Discovery and AMC.

My main package is the Big Sport but I have the Now Entertainment Flex option. I can access the AMC via my pro box and also in the BT TV App, but in the BT TV App and also my pro box, the discovery channel, it display I need to upgrade my package

Unfortunately BT currently appear only to give you Discovery if your main package is Entertainment, Big Entertainment or VIP.

@zulu17 is correct - the Discovery channel isn't part of the Now TV packages. It's part of the Entertainment, Big Entertainment, VIP, and VIP 4k packages (which also include Now TV as part of them).

I've raised an issue regarding bt.com showing incorrect information.

I'm still only allowed to say "soon", but I think it'd be fair to say you're not likely to be using it over Christmas.
In a VERY rare move, it's being given to employees first (using us as guinea pigs). I work alongside the guys who are developing the system to join BT and Discovery systems together, and even I don't have access yet.

Sorry to slightly change subject but I have now seen vip4k mentioned twice. I thought there was only a vip package not a vip and a vip4k package.
