Can I use my own e.g Humax set top box instead of supplied YouView box?

My BT TV YouView set top box needs upgrading. Without wanting to sign a new contract can I use a recently purchased Humax or similar set top box instead?

No if you want to receive BT Subscription channels.

As long as it's a YouView box, it WILL work. It'll automatically pick up the BT branding and configuration as soon as it's connected to a BT Broadband line. Older boxes may have restricted features though.

Other boxes are available that will also work - post the model number here if you're unsure.
