Enquiry about recording on bt player box

This is a general enquiry and wondering if anybody knows if this can be done on bt…..

I am finding increasingly on British television stations that programmes sometimes overrun with adverts and the programme we have recorded is well finished. In the past,I have tried switching off the recorded programme early because of this - or sometimes,the next recording will clash with a programme that has over-run.

My question is,is there a way to stop a recording of a programme early BUT keep the recorded programme on the bt box? I ask this as I have tried to do it,and the recording comes off the bt box instead. Quite annoying - as sometimes,programmes like PBS America have different timing schedules than UK tv. Thanks for any help.

Press the (red) record button, it will ask if you wish to stop the recording (and it will remain on the box until you delete it)
