Support for old BT TV YouView box to be withdrawn

As of 28^th February, the below pictured BT YouView box will no longer be supported.

What will change?

You’ll still be able to watch and record Freeview channels.

However, you’ll no longer be able to use anything requiring an internet connection, this includes BBC iPlayer, All 4, My 5, Netflix and EE Player. You’ll also be unable to view TNT Sports channels or watch any previous recordings from these channels.

That assumes you know what the different models look like. Giving the model number and explaining how to dive into Settings to determine which model you have would have been helpful in addition to posting a picture.

If you are walking up to a YouView box to see if it is like the one in the picture, and it looks like the one in the picture, you really don’t have to know what model number it is, nor how to check that in Settings 😛

Ah but @Midnight_Voice maybe they have their old box stored in a box labelled DTR-1000.

Absolutely,i don't have any idea what the different boxes look like but the model number would have made it perfectly clear which box it was.

Ive just spent 3 weeks 18 hours of calls trying to get my package sorted as i had entertainment package. Finally got it partially sorted, but asked loads of times if my old box would be compatable when changed to ee and told it would be fine?

Still no discovery plus access or mini boxes i was promised or reschedule of 2 cancelled tech visits.

Can I ask whether you still have your broadband with BT or did you change to EE broadband when changing you package.

This will determine whether BT or EE are responsible for your new EE TV package (both BT and EE offer EETV packages but have different offers).

The simple answer is. I dont have a clue as ive asked hundreds of times and cant get an answer. Ive been promised a call back about 20 times and keep getting ignored. My account has been messed up so many times and changed that no one has a clue. I was changed new deal 3 weeks ago and i think it was still bt, but this deal was messed up. Next day transfereed to EE and promised 2 mini boxes, however this order was messed up and my tech visit cancelled for second time. Took 3 weeks and 18 hours calls to get my Netflix, Now tv, Hd back up and running, however after this i was transferred to someone to tell me if my box will be compatible and when im getting boxes and tech visit. The person couldnt tell me and said she would call me back, but didnt since last thursday. Ive since phoned again twice and been told my account is locked and need tech to look again ( for about the 10th time). I still dont have discovery plus access either. Horrendous experience. Ombudsman next call as im disabled with hearing problems. Maybe im easier for BT to ignore.

Just found this, as your writing about a particular model of Youview Box, it would be correct to have mentioned the Model Type to make 100% clarity of which you speak, quite a few non tech people it's just a box, which is understandable, a picture is not sufficient.
Just saying ....lol
