No UHD 50fps 10bit option on BT Box Pro

Has anybody had this issue?

I don't get an option to switch to UHD 50fps 10bit on my BT Box pro.

Only options I have are:
720p
1080i
1080p
UHD 50fps 8bit

Using an HDMI 2.1 cable on a compatible TV where HDR works with every other device using the exact same HDMI cable.

I have rebooted/power cycled the box.

Solved.

Deep Colour was not enabled for this devices input on the tv under general/devices/hdmi settings.

Which is the recommended setting for the BT-TV box, 1080p or UHD 50fps 8 or 10bit?

I assume you have a UHD TV?

If you can view any UHD on the Pro box, BBC iPlayer say, then don’t set 1080p, or the box will bust the UHD down to 1080p, and the TV will have to scale it back up to UHD, and a fair amount will get lost in the two translations.

Between 8 bit and 10 bit, go for 10 bit if your TV will support it; as above, you may have to set the HDMI port on the TV to ‘Enhanced/Deep Colour/whatever your TV calls it’ to get it.

When watching HD content, you will be relying on the Pro box to upscale it, but the TV can then show it directly, with no further translation.

I used to think my TV could upscale marginally better than a T4000, but the different wasn’t really worth worrying about, given the hassle of switching for native UHD content, and I bet the Pro box has a better algorithm anyway.

So now I’m UHD 50fps 10bit all the time, even on the T4000.

I have it now set to UHD 50fps 10bit and I must say that the colours look much better and vibrant.

The TV is an LG 42LK45OU

That’s an HD TV of a certain age, so I’m surprised the Pro box let you choose a setting above 1080p.

But it’s not putting out UHD, or the TV wouldn’t be able to cope; it must be putting out 1080p.

But if you get better 1080p with the Pro box set for UHD 50fps 10-bit, then why not enjoy that, indeed? 😛

Can I confirm that I do indeed have the pro- box, where will it give me this information?

It certainly looks like it going by the Internet pictures, it only allows 2 programmes being recorded simultaneously.

It's been on 1080p for a while, it's only recently that I saw in the settings those two new options 8 and 10bit UHD so as it let me change I did, but I've went back to 1080p.

The age of the TV could well be the reason though as to why we intermittently experience glitch sounds and on screen like a build up till I remove and re-insert the HDMI cable it then stops till the next time.
