BBC iplayer UHD content on BT TV Box Pro

Hi guys,

When I look at BBC iplayer using the native app on my TV I can see the UHD logo appearing in some of the more recent TV series, but when I watch on my BT TV Box, I don't see this UHD sign..

Is UHD not supported for BBC iplayer via the BT TV box?

The prime video app on the BT TV Box does show the UHD / HDR sign for some films and series.

BBC iplayer UHD plays on the BT TV BOX Pro .

Try searching when in IPlayer for UHD and you should see list of UHD programmes.

There is in the IPlayer servings under Try new features in IPlayer Beta an option to “Play UHD test loop”.

the BBC also lists the content ay

Thanks @zulu17 I played a bit with the settings, I think I only changed the sound, but I can now see the UHD mark I was referring to.

I have the same issue but my pro box does not have Uhd options in the settings within iPlayer beta. Any ideas?

@DavidBrent without sounding condescending have you got a UHD TV. Otherwise I don't think it will show UHD options.

Hi @Anonymous , perfectly valid question, yes, my TV is Uhd. As per @JulioP , the native iPlayer app on the TV has the UHD banner for available programmes.

@DavidBrent if you go to your BT TV box settings / picture and sound / HDMI display - make sure that shows UHD 50fps?

@JulioP it's set to UHD already. I recently recontacted to remove BT sport and Now boost, it shouldn't have any bearing on the iPlayer app tho. Everything says it's up to date when checking the software versions.

@JulioP Prime shows available UHD content and it plays as such. It is just the iPlayer app that is the issue. It was ok a few weeks ago. I no longer have BT sport so I can't try the UHD channel there.

Hi @zulu17 , I'm having the same issue, there is no option for play UHD test loop on the iPlayer app on my pro box, but there is on the TV iPlayer app. It must be an issue with the app, although that box says all apps are up to date.

Hi,

I am getting the same issue with the iPlayer app on by pro box, The Football is advertised as HDR If you watch this through the iPlayer app, however when I go to watch this through the app on my BT box, I do not receive UHD or HDR on anything, However, when I watch iPlayer through the app locally installed on my TV, I can receive HDR and UHD no problem.

on a sidenote, I can receive BT sport through HDR no problem on the BT box.

They Euros coverage on BBC isn't UHD HDR, it's 1080p HDR and the HDR of choice for the BBC is HLG so your TV needs to support this format

I can watch it in hdr on my tv using the local bbc app installed no problem, so tv must support it however through the app on bt box no hdr I’m afraid.

The Pro Box does support HLG but you probably need to tweak the settings

that’s good to know,

any idea what settings should be set to as quite limited options on it to tweak,

have tried changing the picture settings, currently on hdmi display UHD 50fps 10bit

Tried 8 bit with same results unfortunately,

I did notice i am unable to get uhd on anything on iplayer through BT but do on tv app guess that’s same reason for not getting hdr to.

This issue rectified itself on my box some time ago, but I prefer to use the native apps on my TV as the picture quality is far superior.

In my case the issue disappeared after playing with the settings for a bit and then returning to the main screen.

@Sonic1978 if you don't get any UHD content on any other channel via BT box, it could be the HDMI cable or HDMI port you are using on your TV, maybe try another port?

thanks for your reply, I do get UHD & HDR on other content through my BT pro box bt sport ultimate, prime etc,

so unfortunately, this seems to be only the BBC iPlayer app through the BT pro box.
