EE TV box resolution problem

Since getting a new EE TV box, connected to an old TV by HDMI, I have a problem with the resolution. The TV supports 1920 x 1080 but many times the EE TV box outputs 1440 (as shown in the source name when first starting) which the TV can't display - sometimes giving a blank screen, sometimes jaggy lines from presumably trying to display 1440 as 1920. In theory HDMI should negotiate the best resolution both source and display can handle.

After MANY reboots of the EE TV box and/or turning the TV on and off, eventually they agree on 1920 and I get a picture.

Is there any way to stop EE giving formats the TV can't use, or to force EE not to use 1440?

If you go into the picture and sound settings you will be able to change the resolution setting of the TV box

Thanks @Manatarms84 , maybe it's as simple as that. I've set the resolution, looks OK so far. I'll see if that resolves it and update the post.
