If it’s a DTR-T10xO then these are effectively End Of Life, but a DTR-T2xxx, or especially a DTR-T4000 is worth saving.

If it is one of these, then from your description, I would try a Settings/Factory Reset.

You will lose any recordings you have saved, so watch any that you want to before doing this.

If it still doesn’t come back, then it might just need a new hard drive, or it might have an irreparable hardware error. If you want it back working, you have to decide if it’s worth the investment of time and money to try , or to source a secondhand, but working, replacement, buy a new Manhattan T4, or give up on recording altogether, and just watch On Demand.

More detailed advice available if/when you have narrowed down your options.

Hello all you good people,

I’ve been getting this update your box message for ages but every time I clicked ok to update it takes hours and hours and I find the box still on the “restarting your box” page and nothing happens. I stopped it by turning off the box saving my energy and then I decided to do this from the menu with the same dragging on and on on restarting your box , all done. We are restarting your box so the updates can take effect but it never does. Any help appreciated.

Hi, thanks for your response. I’ll check the model and will report back but as regards buying a Manhattan T4 etc. why wont i just call bt whowho gave this to me as part of my subscription package to replace the damn thing😃?

I had that with my DT4000 box. Troubles started when it would not change channel and picture froze. Then the update problem when update was not completed. BT replaced the box with a Pro box.

Nothing especially wrong with it - I still have a working DTR-T2110 in the guest bedroom - but given that BT would have swapped you up to a faster, and 4K, DTR-T4000, and now the even faster and more capable Box Pro, on request, you’ve been a bit short-changed 😢

Hell yes, ask for a Box Pro, and toss the failing T2100.

It’s a very easy swap.

Thank you so much. Amazing advice.
just an update.
after talking to bt who agreed to send me a new box and i don’t know which model they’ll be sending, I remembered my 24mth contract with bt will be up in November so as I have an ee mobile and bt @& ee became one now I called ee customer care and asked them what options do I have with them. The guy said he can give me the same same package of broadband and tv i already have with bt at £10pm cheaper and he said he’ll send me a new bt home hub 6+ and a pro tv box and I can use 2 tv boxes in different rooms with all the functions in both rooms? I asked him to repeat himself to reconfirm this and he did but tbh I’ma little dubious about these quick talking sales reps who promise you the works for you to find out later nothing is as rosy as they made it seem to be. What do you think? Is it true to get both their pro and my existing box getting all functions individually? Thanks

@MoE1

Yes, you can use both boxes at once, full EE TV functionality on both, in terms of the extra channels in the EPG.

And if he’s persuaded you to do that with your existing T2100, then he’s saved EE TV from having to supply you with a Box Mini as a second box😛

But the T2100 still has the edge over a Box Mini in that it can record, and it can pull in the full range of aerial channels, neither of which the Box Mini can do; though I daresay the Box Mini does the lesser range of things it can do a sight faster than the T2100 🙂

Ouch 😊 I wonder if you have to specifically ask for the mini box or else comes as a standard bundle? In any case I still have the fully functional 2100 as you rightly pointed out it can do more than the mini anyways. Thanks again for all your valuable information👍🙏 cheers
