No Netflix Streaming on BT Box?

I’m paying upwards of 100 quid a month for the full package and I can’t watch NetFlix streaming on my box? I’ve tried to update to the latest version but it already is at the latest version.

Is there any solution?

It’s the DTR-T4000. I’ve had it a while now. When trying to watch live streaming events I just get an error saying "this device does not support streaming live events".

Do you know if the new box has a better user interface and is it more responsive? When changing channel it’s a bit of a pain as there’s a good 2/3 second delay. Also does it support Netflix Streaming and does it have more apps?

I’m out of contract at the moment. I’m considering going back to Sky because I’d much rather the old fashioned Satellite experience than streaming. Internet isn’t great in my area which might explain the delay when changing channel.

That box is too old to support Netflix Live Streaming.

Perhaps you can ask BT to upgrade you to a Box Pro.

Thanks. I'm out of contract at the moment. I imagine they'll want me to sign up for another 12 months if I get a new box. Using the time to investigate sky as well to see what their offering is.

Currently getting between 20 and 30 Mbps. It's the latency that's more of an issue. Not convinced there isn't something wrong with the line.

@Sam_Brown Typically an EETV contract would have a minimum term of two years with broadband needing to be recontact for same period. EETV with BT Broadband should give you opportunity (demand) to receive a loan EETV Box Pro , were you to migrate or move to EE Broadband you should have option to receive an EETV Box Pro or Apple TV on loan ( and possibly depending on your broadband speed and which TV package you opt for an EETV mini extra box.

Only the Box Pro is a Recordable box. Apps are a improvement on the T4000 but some black features that you would expect to be present on a flagship box.
The Box Pro can connect via WiFi and offers options to receive a reduced number of FreetoAir channels (ipmode)but more in HD than via Freeview over the aerial connection (which is still an option with this box)
The AppleTV box would offer the standard range of app Store apps in addition to the EETV .so more choice.

Other considerations .

If your current T4000 was supplied before December 1999 it would be yours to keep.

Your broadband speed and WiFi strength and the likehoos of concurrent users in your household needs to be considered if you are considering ipMode.

I don’t think you can have the AppleTV box on BT, you have to move to EE to get it, or did I miss the memo?

A Box Mini from an unauthorised source, one-off purchase, is almost unusable without EETV, but the apps work and if you don’t have any other devices that support Netflix Live Streaming, may be the cheapest way to get it.

Check your broadband speed is adequate first, though.

As @Midnight_Voice says your box no longer supports Netflix and also your box is to be discounted at some point. The EETV Apple box as far as I know is on if you also have EE broadband.

I would look to bring the cost of your package down a little if you're going to renew your contracts.

Look at Sky Stream and also look at getting Now direct. Now offers discounts getting the service direct.

I didn’t say that, and nor is it true. The T4000, and the T2xxx boxes, still support Netflix as well as they ever did.

Only the newly introduced Netflix Live Streaming is unsupported on these boxes.
