@Takahashi Are you saying that you have an EETV subscription and pay £11.50pm for the box mini as an extra box subscription? I believe that you could cancel this subscription as it is only on a month by month basis. You could then use your Apple TV box instead and rely upon the apps on there to view what you were previously viewing on the box mini. Apart from the time delay that you would experience by viewing live channels via apps rather than multicast on the box mini, I don’t think that you would lose anything. I’m not au fait with the Apple TV box, so I’m sure that someone will correct me if I’m wrong.

Apple Tv v BT Mini box

I have a BT mini box and I’ve recently acquired an Apple TV box. I use the BT mini box mainly for watching Now TV, TNT UHD, and for watching streamed tv for BBC and ITV etc. I don’t have a tv aerial. The BT mini box costs me about £11.50 per month and I’m thinking about how I can get rid of it without losing too much.

Just wondering what my options are, if any

You'll have to contact EE and tell them you wish to downgrade. If in contract you might incur a early termination fee. Also You'll probably have to restart your contract.

Might be best just to wait till your contracts up then get rid.

Contract ends in a few weeks so no problem on that score. Not really the issue though - was wondering what content I would lose. It seems I can get everything on the Apple box that I can get on the BT mini apart from TNT sports which is crucial really.

That mini box is a right rip-off. For about £15 worth of kit you have to pay £11.50 every month. Looking forward to a nice phone conversation in a few weeks.

The loan box would be required to be returned. None of that should result in a change of minimum term. BT or EE may make offers or promotions during the process which if accepted may result in new contracts should you agree.

You Should if you already have the Apple Tv box be able to see what functions and apps you have. TNT Sports is available on discovery + so you can see how watching through that device works with your TV. Also for BBC and ITV etc you would probably need to watch through iPlayer and ITV x.

I 've seen that you have just indicated that your current minimum term ends in a few weeks. You should consider whether you wish to cancel your extra box addon BEFORE your minimum term ends.

There is an app called TV Launcher in the Apple TV App Store (also in iOS App Store too). It is by someone called Adam Foot - to save confusion with any other apps with a similar name. It is regularly updated and is very good, it gives you a way to link the various streaming services via one app. Definitely worth a look at.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for all your replies.

I've now connected the Apple box and had a look around. Unless I've missed something It seems that I won't be at a disadvantage if I get rid of the BT mini. I did think that I would miss out on TNT UHD but after adding the Discovery Plus app I noticed there was the Champions League final there in UHD. Also, there are the usual Netflix/Amazon apps together with NOW tv, which gives me all the Sky Sport. That's basically everything I was using the mini box for.

Can anyone confirm if there's a football match showing on TNT 1 (and UHD) it is also showing on Discovery Plus?

Yes as long as you subscribe to TNT. Another plus ( see what I did there) is you can also watch now tv in UHD
