LG Magic Remote

How do I delete a single recording using the LG Magic Remote. Multiple recordings offer a delete option but single recordings instruct to press the record button but there is no such button on the LG Magic Remote

I'm not sure anyone here would be able to advise unless they also have one of these remotes, Personally I just use the remote which came with the box and it has all the functionality I would want.

Welcome to the Community, @abelford112.

From my understanding, whilst we offer the option for customers to control aspects of their TV set using the EE TV remote, this doesn't work the other way round.

I have an LG Magic Remote myself and can't find any option within EE TV to pair this; which box is it you're using, and how exactly did you set this up?

My LG magic remote provides all the functions necessary to operate both my 2023 LG tv and BT box pro EXCEPT that the magic remote will not delete a stand alone recording on the BT box pro. Grouped recordings can easily be deleted. The BT remote is not so clever and does not operate all the many functions offered on the LG tv so two remotes are necessary. My LG magic remote and the LG tv recognised both the BT box pro and the remote when the BT box pro was set up and I think it is amazingly clever

What if you press the (i) / Info button to display the programme information then select the on-screen Delete option?

The LG magic remote does not have an ‘I’ button as such but the centre rolling button does bring up the information option. However there is no option to delete. For some reason recordings grouped can easily be deleted when highlighted but single recordings cannot. It’s a bit irritating because the magic remote performs every other feature on both the BT box pro and the LG oled tv whereas the BT box pro remote does not and if you want to change to the LG tv tuner and smart functions the BT remote is not too clever

Curious! I did not realise that there was this difference in the UI on different BT box models.

Many thanks for your help. I should clarify that it is not the User Interface on the BT box pro that is the problem but the inability of the LG magic remote to perform the delete function when this is offered as an option on the BT UI. There is no key or sequence of keys that offers this. I will simply accept this and keep both remotes handy. Many thanks

Hey again @abelford112!

I've been doing a bit of research on this one, and whilst it's not something we officially support, I recognise it's something that can be set up via the menus of LG's own OS.

As a workaround for the missing record button on the Magic remote, have you tried pressing the bottom right button on the numeric keypad?

This may vary depending on the model of LG TV you have, but in my case it will bring up an on-screen remote that features a wider range of buttons, including a record button.

I have tried this button which offers various options but not the delete option. It is so strange that where you have recorded a series of programs, the Magic remote opens the BT UI with options below to watch or delete but when there is a single recording the BT UI, again accessed with the Magic remote instructs that the record button will perform the delete function

I am grateful for your helpful response but please don’t go to more trouble over this. I will keep both remotes handy.

I am still not clear on this.
You can bring up the information screen for the recording on the TV screen?
Can you see a Delete function listed?
Can you tab right to get to it using the cursor keys?
Can you press OK to select the Delete function?

Bearing in mind that I am using the LG magic remote and accessing recordings on the BT box pro, I can access recordings on the BT box pro. If there are several recordings grouped together, I can open them watch them or delete each one by highlighting the appropriate box on the BT UI. If it happens to be a single recording and not part of a grouped recording, the BT UI will offer the delete function at the bottom of the screen, by highlighting the recording and pressing the record button. However, there is no record button on the LG magic remote and none of the other buttons or sequence of buttons will provide a record function or button. I am quite content to keep both remotes to hand and am grateful for your help

I’m afraid we seem to be at cross purposes. When only a single program has been recorded on the BT box pro, that program can be highlighted, and when it is highlighted the BT interface very clearly shows, at the bottom of the screen showing the recorded program that when the ‘record’, ie red button is pressed, the program can be deleted. However, my point and my problem is that it is impossible to navigate in any way using the LG magic remote to that record function on the screen. It is absolutely inaccessible using any the navigation features on the LG magic remote. Please do not take any more time to pursue this. Thanks for your help

You are missing the crucial step of displaying the information for the highlighted recording which displays a delete option which you can navigate to.

Thanks for your advice, however, I can very easily display the information on the BT UI which shows both the recording and the option to delete. I should emphasise that I am talking of the instance where only one recording has been made and not a group of recordings which show an entirely different interface and can be easily deleted by navigating to the appropriate delete function. Where only a single recording has been made it is possible to highlight the recording but the LG magic remote has no ‘record’ button which the BT UI highlights must be depressed to perform the delete AND the LG magic remote will not navigate to the area of the BT UI where this function is displayed. Single recording delete is quite different from group recordings delete on the BT box pro. Thanks for your advice but I will not pursue this further

So you cannot display the Information screen for the individual recording? This seems to be the sticking point which you have not yet answered.
