Hi have noticed that some of the RTE channels disappear on the pro tv box! RTE signal is perfect when I do a channel search when it finishes I can see that it has found 220 odd channels which would be normal enough then before I can click out of the menu it drops to 185 odd channels then on the tv guide one rte mux is there the other has dropped off, im a tv engineer so i know the signals are fine have also seen this on other customers pro TV box’s looks like a software issue and have checked box’s all up to date! Have done factory reset also

It would be a Youview EPG customzred based upon your broadband supplier and location.

The official EETV help page listing the channels available for both aerial and IP mode is at

https://ee.co.uk/help/tv-sport/ee-tv-channel-guide

well same applies RTE dont broadcast in the uk

onlyin ireland

i think on sky there in the tv guide and are only accessible with a sub that has an account based in ireland

No, RTÉ (Raidió Teilifís Éireann) is generally not directly available outside Ireland you might signal wouls be to weak even if you could

Here In Northern Ireland the rte channels are fta and in the majority of the province the signals are good as I’ve stated fitting and servicing tv aerials is my trade so I know the rte signal is perfect and I know the box is initially finding the mux then dropping them off before exiting the finished scan, also if the signal for example the bbc channels isn’t great it won’t drop the channels off the channel will still be there but you’d get a message to say weak/poor signal

They are not encrypted as one rte mux is working so getting some of the rte channels perfectly it is obviously a problem in the software somewhere, Sony YouView TV’s used to drop the all the rte channels out, was a software issue as you could turn the youview off and receive the rte channels through Sonys own tv guide Youview Where able to fix this with a software update

There is actually 3 RTE Muxs available the one you have shown there is a mini mux there is also two Public Broadcast Muxs for RTE Channels

Ireland's free-to-air digital television service operated by RTÉ subsidiary 2rn,
operates using two main terrestrial multiplexes (Mux 1 and Mux 2) that cover approximately 98% of the population. These multiplexes use DVB-T and MPEG-4 compression to deliver all major Irish channels, including HD content, radio stations, and digital Aertel services.
Wikipedia +2

Key Details on Saorview Multiplexes:

Multiplex Structure: There are two main public service multiplexes (PSB).

Mux 1 & 2 Contents: These carry RTÉ One, RTÉ2, TV3 (Virgin Media), TG4, Oireachtas TV, and various radio stations.

Recent Updates (2023): Following technical changes in 2023 to improve capacity, TG4+1 and Cúla 4 were added to Multiplex 2.

Radio Changes: Several RTÉ radio services (Pulse, Chill) were moved to Mux 2.

Capacity: Despite the addition of new channels, 2rn has upgraded encoders, which may allow for future services.

Future Changes: Some digital radio stations (e.g., RTÉ Pulse, 2XM) are set to close, while others (like RTÉ Gold) may be retained.

Technical Details: The system requires a UHF aerial and a DVB-T/MPEG-4 compliant TV or set-top box.

Northern Ireland Overspill: In areas of Northern Ireland, these multiplexes can often be received, with some channels appearing in the 800s on Freeview TVs

Previous EE/BT Youview Humax PVR box’s had all the channels without issue, I cannot confirm but some of my customers have stated that both rte muxs have worked on EE Pro box’s at some point In the past, I just find it strange that it clearly can find both muxs when searching but then drop the second mux

So whilst I think it is reasonable to ask how Youview/ EETV handle the Irish channels that exist on the Freeview NI Mux as they have official Freeview channel numbers allocated , your expectation that Youview and subsequently EETV handle Saoview streams is very optimistic. I believe EPGs also come under the Ofcom regulations these days so it maybe that the rules that Youview abide by change . The Box Pro has specifically been developed for the EETV subscription service rather whereas the humax based models were at times available to the retail as well as the BT TV subscription service.

I have the exact same problem.

I am in NI with line of sight to the Moville Donegal Saorview transmitter. When I do a channel retune it will actually pick up both muxes that contain RTE1 and RTE2. However, if I watch RTE1 first it will keep that mux channels and drop the RTE2 mux channels. And if after a retune I watch RTE2 first it will drop the RTE1 channels.

I've been using Youview boxes for TV since around 2010/11 when I got one from a competitor which sounds like Walk Walk. Exact same issue then. I moved to BT around 2014 and the same issue occurred and still occurs on the latest BT TV Pro Box.

I believe this is a well known issue with the Youview platform and also due to the fact that the tuners in youview based boxes are to put it nicely, cr*p. There is also no manual tuning on youview boxes.

I currently have 2 x bt tv boxes. The older G4 box and the newer BT TV Pro box. The 2 x TV connected to both pick up RTE no problem so I normally just watch RTE on the tv's.

I don't think we'll get much help from BT on this, we might as well be in Dover with line of sight to France tv transmitters and noting that we can't get all the channels.
